Elections Katsina State is set to hold its Local Government Elections on February 15, 2025. Investigations by the Katsina Times suggest that this event will mark a historic milestone, leaving a lasting legacy in the annals of electoral history.The Katsina State Government has provided the Electoral Commission with all its financial needs.The state electoral commission has a chairman who has spent his entire career in the state electoral commission, Alhaji Lawal Alhasan Faskari And the commission has appointed commissioners who know the local governments very well.During our visit to the commission’s office, we were convinced they are well prepared to hold an election that will go down in history as the best.In other states, local government elections were held amidst violence, abuse, looting of ballot boxes and throwing of tear gas canisters. This will not happen in Katsina.In other states, various courts have stopped the elections, but in Katsina, though the SDP party went to court, however, it was ruled on grounds that they cannot stop the elections.There was a lot of fuss about the high cost of the form, to the point that a major political party said it would go to court. But the ruling of a Federal High Court in Kano, which said that the electoral commission has the right to charge the form fee, silenced everyone.Later, some states charged the form fee which was five times that of Katsina.The way the election was organized will be peaceful, without violence, fighting, or kidnapping in the areas where security is at stake.
